Painting Flowers

Chinese flower symbols represent the natural nectar that brings growth, fulfillment and new, prosperous beginnings into our lives.

In Feng Shui, many flowers are utilized for good fortune and success. This is because, in general, healthy flowering plants manifest good Chi, or energy. Therefore, flowers as symbols are representative of that same flourishing, flow of strong energy.

Additionally, flower symbols convey beauty, grace, and perfection. They are also excellent symbols of love, adoration, and unity.

Just as the flower blooms, so too does our intellect and spirit bloom when we focus our attention on the endless beauty and potential of these exquisite symbols.

Meaning of Lotus:
Buddhist's all over the world recognize this Lotus as signifying the holy seat of the Buddha. To the Chinese it symbolizes ultimate purity and perfection because it rises untainted and beautiful from the mud. Every part of the plant, from roots to petals can be put to good use and has medicinal properties. As such, the plant as a whole, conveys deep significance. Esoterically, it represents inward emptying and outward splendor and this conveys the true nature of reality according to the Buddhist philosophy.

Art Leasing Programme Launched

After months of planning, Livingwithart Singapore has finally launched our Art Leasing Programme.  This programme answer needs to acquire fine artwork to decorate your living and working spaces while easing the strain on your working capital.

Instead of owning the artwork, you can lease the artwork, without the need to own it long term. This allows you to avoid the maintenance and conservation responsibilities. The artworks are leased in weekly, monthly, 3 month, or 6 month bundles. At the end of the lease period, you can choose to purchase the artwork, or the artwork can be returned, and new artwork may be chosen to replace it. As an added value we are happy to install the artwork, or you can install it with our instructions. Both, theft and damage insurance, during transit, are the responsibility of the lessor. Transportation costs are the responsibility of the lessee. Once the artwork(s) have been installed, the lessee will add a rider to his/her insurance policy, covering the value of the artwork(s) for the duration of the lease/rental agreement.

Since we launched this programme, we had enquiries from restaurants and corporates with our first sign up within the first 5 days.

Islamic Painting

Calligraphic design is omnipresent in Islamic art, and is usually expressed in a mix of Qur'anic verses and historical proclamations. Two of the main scripts involved are the symbolic kufic and naskh scripts, which can be found adorning and enhancing the visual appeal of the walls and domes of buildings.

We are able to blend the verses given by our client with beautiful landscape to form a contemporary work of art for the modern living spaces.

Modern Art Paintings

We created this series of modern art for a Italian couple living in Newton area in Singapore.  They love the combination of bright colours of the art with the minimalistic design of the interior.   We plan the spacing of the art paintings to perfection and carefully installed the paintings so as not to damage the wall.

A Day at the Beach

We created this painting of the family at a beach scene for this resort style interior of a Five-room HDB in the North of Singapore. The painting invokes feeling of idyllic happy times which is pleasing to the eye and picturesque in natural simplicity.  The earthly colours of real sand created on the painting was made to match the furniture and the wall colours while the blue sky brings calmness to the mind.

The Eight immortals

Our artist spent 2 weeks to complete this beautiful painting of the eight immortals.  The Eight immortals from Chinese folklore worked together to eventually cross the extremely rough Eastern Sea, with turbulent waves. Lü Dongbin proposes that each immortal cross the sea through his or her special skills by projecting something onto the sea surface. So, Iron Crutch Li throws his instrument-the crutch (or "bottle gourd" in other versions of the story); Han Zhongli hurls his palm-leaf fan; Elder Zhangguo puts his "paper donkey" into the sea and other immortals all cast their own instruments.

This story is used to symbolize overcoming difficulties or doing something marvelous through someone's special skills.  This painting can be hung in places that require and encourage teamwork such as offices, project site offices, restaurants, hotels, hospitals, military organisation etc.

Rose and Passion

Bedroom, the part of our house we spend most of our time in.  We love to put paintings that suggest passion, calmness, playfulness, mystic or surreal in bedrooms.  In this particular showroom of the master bedroom, we placed a bold red close-up rose painting on a wall with a brown textured wallpaper.  This warm colour combination provides a nice contrast to the purity of the white pillows and bed sheet on the mattress.

In this master bedroom of a executive HDB flat, we customised a beautiful painting of the Fenghuang.  This painting composition has very positive connotations. It is a symbol of high virtue and grace. The Fenghuang also symbolizes the union of yin and yang.

In ancient China, they can often be found in the decorations for weddings or royalty, along with dragons. This is because the Chinese considered the dragon and phoenix symbolic of blissful relations between husband and wife, another common yin and yang metaphor.

We contrast the painting against the bold black coloured wall by having a golden border for the painting which gave it a rich look.

Animal Portrait

On the light grey wall of this living room in the HDB executive flat in the South of Singapore, we created a interesting portraits of zebra.  The paintings are unique as it is made up of 2 pieces.  It provides a nice contrast to the wall and compliments the black colour of the sofa.

This series of paintings took us 1 week to complete and we love the details our artist carefully painted.

Art Installation of a Huge Painting

We love this project we did for our customer who live in the west of Singapore.  He likes Celtic Art as he comes from Ireland.
We had a few rounds of discussion about the type of Celtic Art and the colour scheme that will fit and finally decided on this beautiful grand piece.  Next we explored the biggest size of the canvas and proportion that will suit the living room and the chandelier.
On the day of the installation, we catered for special transport to bring in the huge 2.65 x 2.5m painting mounted on a specially wrapped container.

Before we install the painting, we clear the space below where it is to be installed.  Furniture were moved aside carefully.  Then we erected the scaldfolding on a layer of curtain that we spread on the floor.

The painting is then carefully unwrapped and hoisted up onto the wall that was prepared with brackets.  The painting is being installed onto the wall with brackets and screws to support the weight of it.

Next, we touch up the parts of the paintings that have screws on it and give the top part a good wipe.

After the painting was hung up. The floor was mopped clean and the furniture were being put back to original positions.

And the final outcome is a masterpiece.  The owner love it so much that he insured it.

Abstract Art Painting for Master Bedroom

Mural of Flowers

The mural of flowers on the feature wall at the end of the corridor was created to complement the deco of the living room in a condominium in the west of Singapore.  We completed this project in 2 days and the customer even gave us a thank you card which made us really happy.

Penthouse

In this Penthouse unit in Sembawang, we created two paintings of different colour scheme to separate the moods of the two different areas.  Yet we made considerations to have complementary colour schemes for the two paintings as the audience is able to see the art from the living room area.

At level one, this earthly toned art fits in with the surrounding dining furniture and plant sculpture.  At level two, the blue abstract art brings a sense of tranquility to the interior.

Abstract Art in Living Room

We created this abstract art to complement the colour scheme of the sofa and wall colours in this condo unit in the Yishun.  When selecting art, it is important that the art is proportionate to the wall space available after the furnitures are being placed.

The colours were carefully chosen to add life and highlight the well designed modern living room.

English Football!!!

The boys in the house just loved Football. And interestingly, they support different clubs, so we painted their favourite players on the wall above their beds. Beautiful!
